
Art of the Quilter

The exhibition is generously funded by the June G. Horsman Family Trust
“Art of the Quilter” features a selection of American quilts representing a variety of techniques, colors, and materials. Also included is an 1850 woven coverlet adorned with patriotic eagles. Highlights include a lively crazy quilt made in 1886 by 20 women of the First Presbyterian Church in Reedsburg, Wisconsin and a pieced quilt made around 1920 from 103 “George Washington Great American Cut Plug” tobacco pouches. All of the quilts express the imaginative artistic impulses and skill of its maker(s).
