Bruton Heights School
Bruton Heights School
The original Bruton Heights School houses the Lane Auditorium and several of the Foundation's research and education departments. A permanent lobby exhibition recounts the early years of the school. The building is the centerpiece of the Bruton Heights School Education Center, built on land The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation acquired in 1997.

Williamsburg’s Capitol was the center of British authority in Virginia for most of the eighteenth century. It was where the people of Virginia passed laws, debated revolutionary ideas, appeared in court, and pled for emancipation. Today, you can visit the Capitol in Williamsburg for daily tours. This 350-year-old Episcopal church has hosted many famous patriots. At the time of the Revolution the Church of England was the official church, and all Virginians were expected to attend regularly. Ask knowledgeable parish volunteers your questions or attend one of the Sunday services in this original building, which still serves an active community.

DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum
The DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum houses a variety of the "finer things," including the world's largest collection of southern furniture and one of the largest collections of British ceramics outside England. Relax in the Portrait Gallery, attend a lecture or musical event in the Hennage Auditorium, or take part in a hands-on activity in the Education Studio.

Bus routes begin at the Visitor Center and run throughout the Historic Area. Stops include the Governor's Palace, the Capitol, the Taverns, Market House, Williamsburg Lodge, the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg, and Merchants Square. Buses pass each stop approximately every 15 minutes.

Kimball Theatre

The Kimball Theatre has been owned and operated by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for 90 years. Originally called the Williamsburg Theatre, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. opened it in 1933 as an official Radio-Keith-Orpheum (RKO) theatre along with Radio City Music Hall and The Roxy Theatre in New York City. Today, the Kimball is a cornerstone of Williamsburg's performing arts community, home to stage productions, musical performances, film screenings, speakers, and more.
